Area Supervisor

Purpose of the Job
What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise day-to-day water and wastewater operations, including treatment, distribution, and collection systems.
- Oversee, monitor, adjust, and control system processes to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
- Evaluate system performance against safety, environmental, efficiency, and availability goals, identifying opportunities for optimization and corrective action.
- Manage and participate in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Lead, coach, train, and develop operational teams while supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee growth.
- Ensure compliance with safety programs, operational procedures, emergency response plans, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety evaluations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Monitor equipment and utility systems through on-site inspections and SCADA/Apogee systems to ensure reliable operation and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a key point of contact for customers, contractors, regulators, and internal stakeholders, resolving issues and supporting capital projects.
- Respond to operational emergencies and support emergency response activities as needed.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, inventory control, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Travel frequently between assigned operational areas to support teams and system needs.

What You'll Bring
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Active state water and/or wastewater certification relevant to the assigned area.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive hands-on experience in water and wastewater operations, with strong knowledge of industry regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional state water and/or wastewater certifications.
Competencies
- Strong understanding of water and wastewater system operations.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, industry best practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience working with SCADA, Apogee, or similar plant operating systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to serve as a subject matter expert and provide operational guidance.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise, coach, and direct technical and operational teams
