Overview
Nexus Water Group has an opportunity for a Field Technician (Line Locate). The Field Technician will primarily be responsible for completing Line Locate requests for the company wastewater line in the service areas. The Field Technician will also assist company service teams with routine service and maintenance tasks in the wastewater collection system and with customer service-related tasks.
Location and Schedule
This position will travel between service areas near Birmingham, AL. Schedule is Monday through Friday.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for completing Line Locate requests for the company wastewater line in the service areas
- Assist with maintaining mechanical, electrical and piping systems for area wastewater facilities.
- Constant, independent travel daily between worksites on Company time.
- Complete facility and vehicle inspections, along with related follow-up.
- Maintain a safe working environment and report safety concerns to Area Manager.
- Provide on-site customer communication.
- Forward customer inquiries on leadership.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
Experience
- Mechanical or maintenance experience. General knowledge of safe work practices and the care and operation of a variety of tools and equipment.
Education and Licenses
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to frequently perform moderate to heavy physical demands, including lifting (75 lbs.), walking (10+ miles daily), climbing and mechanical repair.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel; ability to learn how to use utility-related software
- Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Demonstrates initiative and desire to learn new tasks.
- Possesses strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills in the area of water and wastewater maintenance and repair, including working knowledge of collection and distribution systems, pumps, motors, controls and piping.
Work Environment
- Extreme physical demands, including lifting (75 lbs.), walking (10+ miles daily), climbing and mechanical repair. Will be expected to work in all weather conditions such as rain, wind, snow, extreme heat and cold; may encounter various potential hazards in the field.
- Operates a company-issued motor vehicle, variety of tools and equipment, including hand-held computers and hand tools; laptop; cell phone.
