Overview:
Responsible for all aspects of planning and completing complex water and wastewater system improvements, as well as other operational and engineering projects. The Project Manager will work collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, EHS, and others to ensure proposed projects meet TCEQ, EHS, operating, efficiency, and other requirements. The Project Manager is a service and solution provider who works with others in order to improve customer service, safety, efficiency, and the bottom line.
What You'll Do:
- Provide oversight, management and delivery for the installation of transmission mains, distribution mains, wastewater collection systems, services, hydrants, generators, electric motors, pumps, boosters, chlorinating equipment, storage facilities, lift stations, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and other mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Ensures projects are completed on a timely basis in the most cost-effective and safe manner and making sure that operation instructions are prepared.
- Visits construction projects on a regular basis to review progress of construction and coordinates with engineering consultants, inspectors and contractors. Physical inspection of construction in progress will be required to verify work completed prior to approving progress payments.
- Responsible for contract solicitation, procurement, and negotiation for goods and services pertaining to the water and wastewater infrastructure improvements. This requires preparation or oversight of developing requests for proposals or bids and seeing the work through contract execution.
- Responsible for monitoring and controlling all relevant project documentation and storing for records retention.
Assists with the update and improvement of the Company's technical standards, policies, and procedures. - Assists in the preparation of an effective master plan and/or timely plant improvement and replacement program.
- Ensures all project planning materials and construction is in compliance with applicable regulations as promulgated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and American Water Works Association.
- Promotes safe working conditions and ensuring safety standards are followed.
- Prepare various reports and information requests as necessary.
- May have other job-related duties assigned by management.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
- P.E, PPM, CCM license/certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 5-10 years in the water/wastewater industry is required and construction experience is preferred, including reviewing shop drawings and managing change orders.
- Experience with land development projects, water and wastewater planning & delivery, and project cost estimating is desired.
- Must be able to work well with internal and external team members, including land developers, City Engineers concerning capital improvement planning/ projects.
- Experience performing water and wastewater industry routine engineering practices and supervise personnel, as assigned.
