Overview
The Nexus Water Group team is seeking a Senior Accountant (Cash). The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and accuracy of cash related accounting activities across the organization. This role supports reliable financial reporting through disciplined reconciliation processes, timely and accurate recording of transactions, preparation of journal entries, and adherence to a strong internal control environment.
Working closely with Treasury and other accounting functions in a multi-entity environment, this position plays a key role in preparing month-end close entries, supporting broader close activities, and driving continuous process improvements.
Work Location and Schedule
This is a full-time role based at our Sugar Land, TX office. Minimum 3 days per week, with up to 2 days of work-from-home.
What You'll Do
The Senior Accountant duties are as follows:
- Monitor daily cash activity across bank accounts and ensure accurate recording of transactions
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and entities
- Research and resolve reconciling items and discrepancies in a timely manner
- Provide visibility into cash balances and activity to support decision-making
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries and variance analysis
- Ensure cash-related accounts are accurately reflected in the general ledger and financial statements
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and GAAP requirements
- Partner with internal and external auditors on treasury and cash-related audit requests
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of cash operations
- Contribute to a collaborative, accountable team environment
- Perform other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring
Experience
- Minimum of three years direct accounting experience
- Thorough knowledge of accounting theory and practice as applied to accounting systems, policies, procedures, and reporting methods
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required
Nice to Have
- Public accounting experience preferred
- CPA license preferred

- Strong business acumen with an understanding of GAAP

Work Environment
- This role is primarily office-based with extended periods of sitting and computer work.
- Regular collaboration is required both in person and virtually with internal and external stakeholders.
- Occasional travel may be required.
